He wrote so we might fly

The Jimmy Edition Varsituile is the inaugural release in an ongoing collaboration between AMBASSADOR Magazine and LANCE PIERRES, commemorating the artists, thinkers, and cultural architects whose enduring influence continues to shape Harlem's evolving intellectual, creative, and cultural tradition.

Founded in 2020, AMBASSADOR Magazine exists to preserve, honor, and celebrate Black culture and the people who have shaped it.

At LANCE PIERRES, we create elevated, essential accessories through quiet innovation and deliberate distillation, guided by the principle that “how we make is just as important as what we make”.

Cut from full-grain calf leather, the varsituile bears a commemorative halftone print honoring James Baldwin, whose words continue to challenge, comfort, provoke, and illuminate decades after they were first written. Its exterior features a supple, water-resistant pebble-grain texture, while the interior reveals the leather's natural sueded reverse side. Our signature Pellewebbing™ straps are cleverly sandwiched between the bag's body and facing, helping resist stretching over years of daily use. Inside, an oversized internal pocket—printed in acknowledgement of this unique partnering—keeps essentials within easy reach, while the spacious silhouette accommodates your laptop, journal, water bottle, and of course the Baldwin tome you are currently imbibing.

style: varsituile 01 (w17” x h17”)
